City of Pripyat

City of Pripyat was founded on February 4, 1970, on the banks of the Pripyat river, near the Semihody railway station.
The main reason for the city's foundation was the construction of one of Europe's largest nuclear power plants - the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP).
As of November 1985, the population was 47,500. Most of them were the workes of ChNPP.
After an explosion at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on the next day, for three hours all of them were evacuated to various places of the Soviet Union. Two years later, a new town was built for the former inhabitants of Pripyat. Name of the new city, which was built from scratch is Slavutich. Most people, those currently working at the station live in Slavutych.
During a tour around the city of Pripyat tourists will see the most famous “must see” buildings and places, such as the River Port, Central Square, Amusement Park and others.
